Quantitative measurements of microvascular properties are extracted from the computational modelling of Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Images (DCE-MRI). Pharmacokinetic modelling is highly related with angiogenesis and neovascularization which are biological processes related to the increasing demands of oxygen and nutrients in the tissue.

This vascular network, especially in tumors, is chaotic and do not have a normal structure. Therefore, the use of pharmacokinetic is very useful in the detection of neoplasms, vascular injury characterisation and the monitoring of the treatments. 

This tool can be used either by MRI or CT.
